Lighting is everything – Natural daylight is optimal. Avoid harsh shadows and backlighting. Best to photograph near a window or outdoors on a cloudy day.
Front-facing and straight – A direct frontal photo works best. The face should look straight into the camera, not turned sideways.
High resolution – The photo should be at least 1 megapixel. Smartphone photos are usually sufficient, but avoid heavily cropped or zoomed images.
No obstructions – Sunglasses, hats, or hands in front of the face are unfavorable. All facial features should be clearly visible.
Natural expression – A friendly smile looks most natural. Grimaces or extreme expressions are harder to translate into a figure.
Clothing and accessories – Show the clothing on the photo that should be depicted on the figure. Or describe your desired outfit in the configurator.
Submit multiple photos – If you want to show different perspectives or details, feel free to upload multiple photos. Our artists use all available references.
Group photos – For couple or family figures, individual portraits per person are often better than a group photo, as faces are larger and clearer.
